“we thank you
\nO most Holy and Adorable Trinity, Eternal Wisdom,
\nfor supplying, in an ineffable abyss of generosity,
\nthe whole world with Your Canticle of Hope and Love;
\nwritten so that it will lead many to Eternal Salvation;
\nwith exceptional grace, You have laid out a way,
\nscented by a sweet odour of Your perfume
\nand spread with sapphires,
\nfor every one to follow
\nand find their loveliest rest in Eternity;
\nand in Your divine gentleness

\naltogether adorable Bridegroom,
\nYou visited once more the earth,
\nto speak to Your children heart to heart,
\npouring on them a stream of graces
\nwith anointed and luminous knowledge of Yourself;
\nYou, Luminous Godhead, have anticipated this Feast1<\/a><\/sup>
\nlong before Your creation;
\nthe day when, favouring your beloved,
\nYou would call Your creation,
\nfrom the lowest to the highest,
\nto a day of espousals with Your Divinity,
\nwhere in those days of festivity
\nYou would share with them a more intimate union,
\nembedded like a royal gem in You,
\nand where You would converse with them
\nin the interior of their heart;<\/p>\n
\nYou had foreseen that this divine union
\nwould be only sweetness,
\nbecause You would be spending Your time with them,
\nsharing their lives while still on earth
\nas You share Your splendour with Your angels;<\/p>\n
\nfor irrigating His flower beds,2<\/a><\/sup>
\nand for sending His light far and wide;
\nwe give thanks to You, God, as we recount Your marvels;<\/p>\n
\nYou left Your Throne and laid aside Your royal Crown,3<\/a><\/sup>
\nto ornament Your creation
\nwith an overflow of Your divine Love;
\nthen, inebriated with Your Love for them,
\nYou gave Your Holy Spirit
\nwho would draw them into Your nuptial chamber4<\/a><\/sup>
\nand on Your matrimonial bed,5<\/a><\/sup>
\nspontaneously uniting themselves to You;<\/p>\n
\nTreasure of the saints and of the angels;
\nonce Your creation would be exalted with Divine Love,
\nthey would cry out to You:
\n‘Kyrie eleisson, Kyrie eleisson …’
\nwhile You would be whispering in their ear:
\n‘because you embraced impassability,
\nyou found a spiritual vivification in My embrace;’<\/p>\n
\nYou have, in Your tenderness,
\nsummoned the poor as well as the rich
\nto gather around Your Kingly table,
\noffering an imperial Banquet;<\/p>\n
\nSource of ineffable delights,
\nFountain that makes the gardens fertile,6<\/a><\/sup>
\nWell of Living Water,
\nStreams of faithful Love flowing from Your Heart,
\nLover of mankind, Bridegroom of Your creation,
\nwe adore You and praise Your Holy Name Thrice Holy;
